My family had been stuffing junk up there for the past two years. Bags of old clothes blocked the walkway on the left. Christmas and other holiday things blocked the right - along with the children's baby rockers and my husband's hand truck.
What on earth was a hand truck doing in the attic? Your guess is as good as mine.
Because I love to throw things away (don't even ask, I have no idea why, it just makes me happy to lessen the junk in my house), that "toss" pile grew the biggest.
And because I'm afraid the Goodwill truck man will become lonely if I don't stop by to donate at least a couple times a month, there was plenty in that pile as well.
There was no sell pile. Yes it's possible I could have kept a few things to sell in a future yard sale, but because my daughter filled up most of the attic with things she eventually planned to sell in a yard sale but never got around to ... I kept nothing in that category.
Out the door went the stuff. At last, I could walk through my attic without tripping over things.
After Christmas, I used some new plastic bins to store all my decorations. These are see-through, which is fabulous for finding the bin you want at a glance. They stack neatly, unlike the various sized cardboard boxes I'd used previously.
I love my new attic organization.
How's your attic?
Mary
Well, do you want to come over and play in my attic now?
ReplyDeleteMy goal for the first week of December was to work in the attic. That was my goal for today too!
Didn't happen!
Good for you getting your attic organized!! I have been working on mine for sometime now......
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by!
Hugs,
Debbie
I am so impressed with your organizing skills, Mary! I could do with your help at my house! The see through boxes for Christmas decorations is such a good idea....I will get some to put mine in!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much too for your sweet comments recently x
Happy weekend!

I know how great it is to go thru things an weed out those things you want to either give away or throw away. We did that 3 yrs ago when we moved and I am STILL enjoying not having SO MUCH STUFF....it's a great feeling. and I don't try to sell things either..garage sales are waaay too much work and waaay too little money.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry I told my youngest daughter I'd have a garage sale this spring. While I've been home with influenza, I've slowly been going through our basement. Like you, I'm tired of tripping over junk! As soon as the weather warms up, it's one day for the garage sale and everything else goes to the Salvation Army. It sure feels good, doesn't it?!
