Merry Little Christmas Update

Here's some snaps of the Christmas décor around my house. We had to buy a new tree this year as our old one bit the dust ~

I've been collecting Santa mugs from thrift stores. Not antiques but fun, nevertheless ~

The pictures were all taken with my phone, so I can't enlarge them. There's probably a way but I don't know what it is. Our family has been through a lot of trials lately, well for quite a long time but worse lately. I'm hanging on as best I can. Prayers appreciated.

The two-tier below is a cute purchase from Ikea this past year. I've loved decorating with it throughout the seasons.

My son was walking home from a friends house when he saw this green basket in the ditch. Of course he immediately thought of me ;) and brought it home. I decided it looked like a pretty good Christmas basket so decorated it with berries and greenery from the yard. Not bad for free, right?

Next week I'm spending the day with my friend, Betty, baking Christmas cookies. I'm so looking forward to it, and I'll try to save some of them to give to family and friends.

Merry Christmas,

Mary

Merry Little Christmas in July

I've just started doing a bit of crafting and sewing for Christmas in July - getting ready in advance for the big event. I love me some Christmas, so thinking about it mid-summer is a treat.

I got this idea from a magazine picture which I no longer have so can't reference :( but loved it so much. Won't this look fun on my mantel come December?!

I bought the letters at Michael's - wooden and white. The scrapbook paper was from an online shop called Doodlebug Design, Inc. "Santa Express" - 11 double-sided cardstock.

I simply turned the letters upside down onto the side of the paper I wanted to show - traced around each letter with a pencil. Then Mod Podged the letters on and let that dry completely. Then I came back with a top layer of Mod Podge. So easy, so cute, so fun!

Several months ago I saw this fabric at the Fat Quarter Shop and thought of the possibilities. I'm going to make a small quilt for a Christmas throw on the sofa. There'll be fabric enough left over to make two pillows which I may gift.

I recently finished up more little girl dresses - will show you those next time.

For now, I'm off for a fun day with my friends to Yorktown, VA. See you next time.
