Enjoy the Little Things Wednesday

I love this time of year: schools letting out for summer, the warmth of the earth, flowers in all their finery.

It seems that time slows even for us as adults while we remember the summer days of our childhood, which seemed to last forever.

The long hot days spent on Grandmother's farm. Playing in the hay loft, swinging on the bale lifter. Slipping out to the orchard to pick sunshine ripe apples.

Listening to 60s rock and roll on the transistor radio: The Beatles ("Here Comes the Sun"), the Beach Boys ("Surfin' Safari"), Otis Redding ("Dock of the Bay").

The olden times have slipped through our lives like sand in an hourglass.

But happy memories last forever.

Let's go surfin' now!

  4. Hi Mary - My childhood summers were amazing. We had so many kids on our neighborhood and we played out until dark with our parents sitting out in the yard visiting. Such sweet memories.

    1. Great memories, Judy - you brought back similar memories for me - we were in the country. Our parents, aunts, uncles, grandmother sat on the front porch (grandma always had the seat of honor - the swing) while we chased lightning bugs in the yard.
