Spring Fling and Aprons

Beautiful spring blooms - everywhere! - I have not been able to get enough of the colors!

The yard has gone from drab to fab in the last month. My husband sprinkled some medicine for the roses, but isn't this bloom gorgeous?

The iris ~

Not sure why my peonies opened in white this year, they've been pink in the past. If any of you know the reason, let me know please ~

Well in addition to drooling over the spring beauty ... and rushing to finish my son's homeschool 9th grade year! ... I've made another apron. This is my favorite so far, but I have more ideas - and fabric! - in mind for a few more. Planning to gift them, but tell me - would you love to receive one of these as a gift? Or not?

Just because I would doesn't mean the whole world would flip out over them, right?!

I'm back to the school books with Matthew. Leave a comment letting me know what you think about the apron idea, and I'll be sure to visit you!

Keep sewing ~

Flowers, Aprons, and Dresses

These pictures were taken on a walk through our neighborhood this week.

I enjoy seeing what others have planted - including azaleas, phlox, dogwood, and tulips. The yards come to life with color.

Most of the cooler weather of last week, however, was spent inside. This apron was made by a pattern I found in a local quilt shop. It's rather pretty, and I look forward to trying other apron patterns and finding various ways to embellish my aprons ~

But what I'm most excited to share is this little girl's dress.

I read online about an organization called "Little Dresses for Africa" and knew right away I wanted to join in. It's fun to quilt, to make pretty things for my home. But after a while I wanted to make something to give. This seemed like the perfect idea.

Each dress takes only one yard of fabric, and will fit a girl size 8-10. The ample hem allows for several years of wear. I bought a variety of fabric and will show more sweet dresses to you as I complete them in the coming weeks. Isn't it fun to imagine the little girl who will wear this dress, perhaps the first pretty dress she's ever had?!

I enjoy changing my decor for each season and thought I'd share a few looks around the house. Does anything say spring like the early morning birdsong heard outside one's window? These cuties remind me of the pretty songs.

And the table is always set for tea this time of year. The two small teapots were thrifted finds, the colors are just right for spring. The tiny vases belonged to my dear mother.

Thanks for visiting me, I'd love to hear from you and promise to visit back so I can enjoy your posts as well. Have a wonderful week - I hope the flowers are blooming where you live.

Happy Sewing ~

Mary
